I was looking at Newegg, they have a round IDE cable for $11. Will the round cable make a big difference in airflow?

just round it yourself
or use jonnyguru's method of folding cables to round them

i think they do improve air flow just a bit. i mean a rounded cable in front of your intake fan is better than a big flat ribbon impeding air flow. prolly only decrease a degree or so though, rounded cables are mostly for aesthetic purposes. i rounded my ide and floppy cables myself and bought my ata 100 cuz i was chicken.

If you are capable of aranging your regular ide cable in a neat fashion, rounded cables are unnecessary. Luckily my ide ports are right next to my ide devices, so I can easily conceal the cables so that they aren't even viewale through the window on my case.

Sorry, but what exactly are rounded cables? I'm only familiar with the flat kind. Do you simply connect the two edges to form a cylindrical shape?

I've heard that rounded cables have been linked to drive failures in some tests. Having the choice of the two, I choose flat, as they are tested and true. Granted, the round ones look cooler, but I don't want to risk system stability for coolness...
