Gotta replace the old crapper and since this doesn't happen often I figure it would make sense to seek some advice as to shape etc. Gotta live with my decision for a long time.

Several people include a guy who sells toilet innards for a living told me the American Standard was to brand to get so I've pretty much decided to go with that but I'm getting mixed reviews as to the best shape. Also, I've been told that the handicapped toilets sit higher and are therefore better. I can't imagine why.

TIA to all you crapper experts who respond to my humble inquiry.

higher seat is more comfortable if you have longer legs. low seat+long legs=kiss knees

granted the difference is only usually 3 inches

I would snag a Toto toilet for sure.

I think the taller toilets are 1" taller than normal. I guess that's great if you're old or have bad knees. As far as elongated, I prefer that over the tiny-ass round kind since I'm a big dude.

Oblong. I hate round bowls, my junk always touches the cold porcelain.

I replaced two of the toilets in my house with these toilets from Kohler.

higher height and its called elongated ... round bowl only when in tight spaces ... the toilet in a box for $65 at lowes / hd are pretty good .. just dont use the floor gasket/ mounting that comes in the box ... dont go for the 1.28 gpf ... settle for 1.6gpf ... or go with 2 stage flushes (of course mo moeny) ...

ewwww, porcelain

I think if the oblong kind have an insufficient waterspot, you can sometimes drop your turd outside submerged area and then the fecal matter that lands on the supralittoral zone desiccates into a rock-hard material that is really fun to clean.

oblong, but as a person of average height, I hate those tall bowls. I don't use handicapped stalls for that reason.

Dual Flush Toilet

I just replaced my old unit with this one. Works great and easy on water consumption.

Oblong (elongated) is the way to go for sure.
