I haven't done math in forever, so...quick question.

What's the chances of winning twice in a row on a single number?

(1/38) * (1/38) right?

What about winning once and then losing once?

(1/38)*(37/38) ?

Winning once and losing once u need to multiply by 2 because you can either win/lose the first time, but you need to get the opposite next time... Unless of course you mean win then lose (in that order).

Otherwise your math is correct..

Negative. Each spin is an independent trial. And keep in mind that there are two types of roulette wheels; one with a single green cup/slot and one with two green cups/slots.

Please go to Wizardofodds.com for full details and all the math.

??

the odds to hit on a number on any given spin is exactly 1/38 (with 0 and 00)

so he is correct.

Yah, each spin is independent. But what I'm asking what are the chances of winning, then losing in 2 spins.

You are correct on the first part as long as there are both 0 and 00 (some places only have 0, or 00, but not both)

For the second question, you have to specify whether you win first, then lose, or just win and lose once in no particular order. The order makes a difference on the % outcome. If you are just saying win first, then lose second, then you are correct.

Why would order matter? Each spin is independent of each other and has no correlation.
