With corn prices soaring due to low inventory, and the effect that will have on the prices of pork and beef, plus the price of gas, both for your car and the grill, it's gonna be an expensive year to be grillin'

Anyone planning on cutting back?

I'm going to rush out and buy a half of beef right now to insulate myself from the skyrocketing prices of alternator sized beef.

But seriously, I'm buying a half of beef this week, nothing related to the prices.

There is a whole lotta stuff you can throw on a grill that costs less that $12/lb. fillet including right on down to country style ribs at $1.19/lb.

from what I've read, beef prices aren't affected immediately by higher corn prices. Experts state it takes a year or two for beef prices to catch up. Chicken on the other hand...

As I sit here looking out the window at several head of cattle I somehow have a tough time being all that worried about beef prices.

Why would you cut back on the grilling, honestly what are you going to replace the meat in your diet with? Soy?

I bought pork shoulder at $1.33 a pound. It ends up being about $2 a pound after waste & shrink. That's not bad for finger licking good smoked piggy. Even if it goes up to $2 a pound "gross" weight it's still not bad for the $$.

Shortage of corn? Simple solution would be to stop putting corn syrup in everything. At the store the other day just trying to find forzen veggies to to steam half the bags contained sugar and or corn syrup. why the hell do veggies need corn syrup on them. Its like we are inventing ways to taint health food.

I'd rather spend more on quality beef I can pick out and grill myself than kill myself eating lips & assholes from fast food chains.

Meat is life. I've had my smoker set up in my garage all winter. I refuse to let the weather curtail my consumption of flesh.

stop feeding animals corn--which they shouldn't be eating in the first place?
