Didn't quite know which forum to post this on, but certainly don't think that 'Technical Support' is appropriate.
AthlonXP 2000+
512m DDR
ECS K7S5A
2 - Maxtor 40g 8m 7200r drives on a Promise ATA100 Raid Card in Raid 0.
Win2k
etc.
Recently one of the maxtors starting whining and keeping me awake at night, so I decided to pull it. Shopped up a bit and decided to replace the raid setup w/ a single Hitachi 160g drive (one of the new highly rated ones).
Well, so far, it SUCKS. Winamp pops and skips like nobody's business... System jitters, mouse freezes, etc.
Have I just become dependent on the boost that raid0 gives, or is something else the matter. I don't remember having this much trouble in my pre-raid days.
NOW, I did ghost over to the new single drive from the raid array. Could I perhaps be looking at some kind of OS glitch?
As an aside, the maxtor was at least under warranty so I will be able to fall back to the 2 - 40's if need be.
Any of you raid users tried going back to a non-raided system?
The rules state that HIGHLY TECHNICAL is not the appropriate forum for this troubleshooting issue either.
