Hi everyone, I'm in Air Force Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC, just so everyone knows). Anyways, most of the older cadets are really unfaithful to the US. You walk in their dorm rooms and they have the Soviet flag on the wall. The second in command (student) even told me that he only does it for the money. I actually WANT to serve the country, to become a pilot and an willing to die for the US. I don't mind if some people are antimilitary or who have a thing for communism ( I study the Soviet system and own a Soviet flag, I just don't hang it on the wall, it stays in a bag), I just don't like seeing the "future leaders of America" being nothing more than a bunch of losers without the guts to die for their country, only the urge to suck money out of the system. Does this bother anyone else?

Yes. There's a problem with it.

Sort of hypocritical that they care about money when they claim to be communisists.

OK, I just have to say

WTF?!?!

Having the Soviet flag hanging in your dorm? If you're serious, turn those fsckers in to their COs.

I have a simpler solution than trying to rat him out, or arguing flag philosophy with Anandtech members until the cows come home. Just go kick that guy's ass. He's obviously asking for it, with his Soviet flag and all. Damn sonofabitch wants attention, better give it to 'em ;)

Robert

I must admit, I don't know much about ROTC. But if an actual member of the US military were to do that, they'd be court martialed before they knew what was happening to them.

Perhaps he sees it as a form of hunters trophy, you know like a reminder of butts kicked. I wouldn't get all worked up about it, some people have the British Union Jack too.

There is a thing one must sign that they will swear or affirm to the constitution and stuff. So, if they try anything, they can be out like that.

I believe it is good to have other beliefs but it seems to me that you think that their opinions might conflict.

If it is a problem with honor then turn them in. I have nothing against it. They can decorate it with pictures of themselves in women's clothing and I would not care. Just as long as their actions does not conflict.

Yes, despite what I said. I too think it is wrong morally. Just for the money... That is what everyone thinks these days... :(
