So, I've been having video card problems, which may or may not be caused by a PSU. Now, I figure this might as well be a good a time to upgrade my PSU as any (since PSUs don't really get dated as other components do). Now, is there a reason why everyone is telling to stick to the name brand PSUs and not Rosewill? I'm looking at these two PSUs:

Antec:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16817371007

Rosewill:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16817182032

The Rosewill has high ratings and is relatively cheap... and 100W more than the Antec. Is there any reason why I should pay the extra $30 for Antec and the -100W difference?

Also, I looked on ebay for the Antec Earthwatts, and this is what I found:
http://*****.com/Antec-EarthWatts-500W-Power-Supply_W0QQitemZ190303226879QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPCA_UPS?hash=item190303226879&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50

and

http://*****.com/Antec-EA-500D-500w-EARTHWATTS-Power-Supply_W0QQitemZ230337897554QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPCA_UPS?hash=item230337897554&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50

Seems kind of cheap for a new one? Around $60 if you add in shipping... still cheaper than newegg and amazon.

Also...
I found this:

I've heard Seasonics are also a pretty good brand, but this is cheaper than the Antec. There's also the S12 Energy Plus version, what's the difference?

your links don't work

However I managed to figure out what you were looking at.

The Rosewill does not have much higher ratings. They named it a 600W power supply, but it only has 35A/420W on the 12V rail (someone is a moron and can't multiply 12*35...thus they got 430W which is incorrect) The fact that the label can't even get the right numbers tells you something.

Also the Rosewill is a fairly cheap ATNG unit without active PFC, horrible efficiency and likely won't be able to reach 600W at the temperature a computer runs at.

The Seasonic and Antec both have 34A/408W on 12V rails

CPU, graphics card, fans, harddrive motors etc. use 12V power so it is the most important output.

The Seasonic you linked last is likely very nearly the same platform as the Original Earthwatts...as Seasonic made those (Earthwatts are now made by Delta One of your ebay links says EA500D, that one is made by Delta). It might have some cheaper capacitors, it also has no sleaving on any cables, whereas the Earthwatts has a few sleaved cables.

The Seasonic and Earthwatts should be more efficient and should provide 100% of their rated power at the temperature a computer runs at.

Ok, the Seasonic one is this one (SeaSonic SS-500ES 500W), compared to the Earthwatts 500W. Between the two, which one is the better buy? Seasonic for $65, Earthwatts for $80.

Also, why are the ebay Earthwatts EA500D around $60? Is that a safe buy?

Newegg doesn't always have the best prices...especially for Power Supplies. Obviously ebay is totally buyer beware.

buy.com has it for $70 shipped

I don't know anything about the Seasonic Really, but I can only guess that it is very very similar if not nearly identical to the old Seasonic made Earthwatts.

As for the Delta units, I am not sure how they perform either, but several other Delta made PSUs sold by Antec perform VERY well. I would say it is safe to buy either Antec Earthwatts.

I would never buy a store brand computer product. Rosewill is newegg house brand. While it's far better than bestbuy's ultimately terrible junk, it's still not what I'd call "good". That seasonic is probably one of the bit older models, but should serve well. Also not a fan of ebay for lack of warranty and support.

Thanks for your input. I went and ordered the Earthwatts from Buy.com with the free shipping. Hopefully the free shipping doesn't turn out to be terrible..
