How can you go wrong, with a product that includes a "yo! Fun" CD. What fun!

That's pretty cheap for 2GB. I have a feeling that it uses a small internal HD, like those 1GB USB removable drives sold at OM. Those ones use a Cornice "storage element" (a HD mechanism, without the extra parts needed to support the usual IDE-protocol).

It's too bad the retailers don't feel a need to let people know if these things have flash memory or a HD.

the box says flash drive on it... might be 4 512 meg chips packaged together... how else could it get so cheap?

If it is flash, then this is an even better deal, it would be more durable then, and better for a carputer, IMO. (Plus, like, yo! Fun)

Rosewill.com doesn't tell any info about the drive. I suspect that the drive is the 1" hard drive because I have a similar one that's a HD. It's a 2.2 GB Emprex.

I did find the Rosewill 1GB model that's being sold at Newegg that has reviews on it. The reviewer states the 1 GB drive is in fact a hard drive. If the the 1 GB is a HD than I would assume the 1.5 GB Rosewill and 2 GB Rosewill models are the same. Link to the reviewer is here:

Wow... thats a big honker (physically). Nice idea.. but too blasted wide. May not fit the tight USB ports on some PCs. Oh.. I see.. just carry a spare USB cable in your pocket too. Imagine this thing on your key chain :)

I already know what the box says. I am trying to help your guys sort it out. All three boxes at Rosewill's site and Newegg's site say flash drive for the 1.0 GB, 1.5 GB and the 2.0 GB. This is definitely hard drive based. Here is a 2 GB drive from Kaser. It looks identical and has the size specs down to the tenth of a mm, and at least at Kaser it's telling you its hard drive based. The read/write specs are also identical. Thirdly, the giveaway would be that there isn't a 2 GB flash memory based device of any kind being sold for under 125 anywhere. That includes USB drives and CF cards. The cheapest flash memory on Pricewatch.com is a 2 GB CF card from Sandisk at around 136-139. The cheapest flash memory based 2 GB USB drive goes for 142. All those 2.0 GB USB drives on Pricewatch from 89- 118 are all microdrives.

From Kasercorp.com:

"Jumbo Drives have all the speed and safety of a big hard disk, and cost nearly 3 times less than comparable Flash Memory drives."

The reviewer at Newegg says its a hard drive but I guess you need more info.

Here it is.
