3GB each!?? Even the 32GB of RAM (which I thought was overkill) my main rig has will struggle with them then, even with being restricted to 10T atm! (running Einstein on the GPU).
Not got those atm, 8 are using 600-700 MB, the other 2 250 and 400 MB.

There is still a split between tasks which require a few hundreds MB, and tasks which take a lot more — similar to what I graphed in May, only at increased levels now.

A host with many CPUs which is running many Rosetta tasks at once is more likely to stay close to the average RAM usage most of the time. Vice versa, a host which is running only few Rosetta tasks at a time is more likely to fluctuate between moderate and high RAM usage, depending on what tasks it happens to have in the pipeline.

My 2990wc with 64 gig of ram is now waiting on 8 tasks for memory. I need to switch the EPYC systems to Rosetta, and all others to WCG.

On computers which use Intel HT or AMD SMT, it doesn't hurt much if some of the logical CPUs go idle. The remaining logical CPUs will get a bit more work done than normal, as they don't need to share resources with some of the hardware threads.

(Of course, for maximum throughput at Rosetta, all logical CPUs should be busy.)

I just set my core2quad 9650 to "No New Tasks" for Rosetta. Purchased in 2008, I ran it over clocked as far as it would go until roughly June 2012 when I picked up my Ivy Bridge host. It ran 24x7 as a server since, and has been running rosetta@home 100% since March 28th. It first crashed 2 weeks ago, and is now only staying up about 12 hours at a time before crashing. I think it's probably just a bad stick of ram, but given that 2 Raspberry Pi 4s do the same amount of work for 1/10th the power draw, there isn't much reason to keep it online.

Wow! Massive difference! I recently sold my old Q9550, Asus P5Q Pro, and 8 GB RAM for £48+delivery, not too bad , and I think, like yours it was from 2008. (And just sold my old HD 7970 alone for £51+delivery!).
But with even a smaller generation gap, it's funny to see that my Ryzen 3600 and RX 580 running Rosetta (10T) and Einstein is drawing ~233w from the wall, my i7 rig will draw just that CPU crunching only! [edit] Although to be fair, it had an extra HDD then & the older PSU, so that accounts for about 25w of the difference.
