My curiosity continues and I found answers to some questions about the Rosetta@Home project that I found to be very fulfilling:

Questions about Corporate interests vs. Scientific interests

I cut David Baker's response in the thread I have linked above:

Hello,

I have a few quetsions that do not seem to be answered on the wesite:

1) Who will own the results of rosetta@home? Will it be public domain? Will a (private) research institute own it?

2) Will the rosetta@home results lead to the patenting of genes, proteines, etcetera?

3) What's the difference/relation of rosetta@home with folding@home and predictor@home? Aren't you just duplicating research here?

Thanks to anyone who can answer these quetions for me. Oh, and you might want to put these in a FAQ on the site. I don't think I'm the only one who likes to know!

1) Everything will be public domain
2) No, I do not believe in patenting naturally ocurring genes, proteins, etc.
3) Rosetta@home is very different from folding@home. rosetta@home aims to predict naturally
ocurring protein structures and design new and useful ones; folding@home is simulating the process of protein folding. predictor@home is also working on structure prediction, but with a very different method.

First of all, how many projects have developers who are willing to engage at this level? Only the very best of them.... and Rosetta@Home is one of them.

Secondly, I am much more interested in forwarding science than the wallets of shareholders.... Apparently, so is Rosetta@Home.

[shameless pimping] 😎 We'd love to have you join us 😎 [/shameless pimping]

I switched from F@H to R@H. I enjoyed my time at F@H and seeing the results of our work, but I figured I'd give this a try and see how they do too.

and finally, where are you seeing these points....

tell me these 3 things and I'll do my best to help!

Name is Hammer, I'm on official site but none of the unofficial stats.

When I looked on the boinc-synergy site, the only Hammer I found was a member of the overclockers.com team.

Are you sure you joined Team Anandtech?

Here's how to check. On the boinc manager window, click the projects tab, then highlight the rosetta project and you should get a button to go to the rosetta site on the left of the panel. Once there, click on the 'your account' link at the left. then scroll the page until you get to the entry for 'team' is it Team Anandtech? if not, you need to quit the team you are on (unless you want to stay there) and then use the join link to take you to the teams listings, then find team anandtech and use the join button.

hope this helps,

-Sid

If you look on the team stats page at the project itself, he is showing there which means he should show up at the next update on synergy and free-dc. RAC is recent average credit. It doesn't become to accurate until you have been crunching at a stable level for a few weeks.

Yeah. Do the third-party stats only update once per day?
