Rosetta@home: Lets welcome our newest member for October 21, 2005

hey guys, i have seti@home, Rosetta@home and Folding@home running at once, but in the boinc control panel, only Seti@home is listed under work, and it's working fine. I tried update and reset for rosetta but it wont give me any work. Folding@home runs fine though.

Hello mwmorph, welcome to the TeAm 🙂

I got some R@H work units (WUs) yesterday and have sent in results today so I think their server is working.

Under Projects tab are both R@H and S@H listed? And is the Resource Share high enough for R@H to get WUs?

By "running at once" do you mean on different computers or the same one computer?
FYI: Some DC projects run at "idle" and some run at "low" priorities. If you run two projects on one single core computer, if one runs at lower priority it will not get ANY cycles, it will just sit there doing nothing.

im running on 1 pc. the resource sharing is 50% for each.
just checked messages.
"Message from server: not enough disk space(100.00mb free for boinc). Review pref for minimum disk spaces allowed.

i looked around in optinos and there are no preferences.

The preferences are on your account page.
To to "your account"-page on the project's home page, select "View or edit preferences", then choose "edit preferences" then select how much disk space at most the application shall use (in your case probably the "leave at least 0.1 GByte free" option should be changed), look through all the other prefs, click then the update preferences button.
Then you have to update the project in BOINC or wait until BOINC updates by itself.
This is what I like with BOINC: you can update your preferences where ever you are; when BOINC then contacts the server your changes will be implemented. The only thing to do in BOINC is to attach to projects and to detach. All other stuff can be performed (more or less) remotely: e.g. if you want to stop a project on a remote computer you just assign a very low resource share (e.g. 0.1 out of 100) to that project. If you have your comps assigned to work, home and school (it does not matter where the comps really are) then you can have three sets of preferences ...

changed to 0.005 and it's curently downloading.

Hmmm, 0.005 GBytes is just 5 MBytes, that is probably a tad to low. For e.g. temporary files. Have you cleaned up your HDD - removed all old temporary files, all unused logs, backups, and such files? There are some really good programs for that, I clean every week some 100 - 150 MBytes of trash off my HDD.
On my comp Rosetta2home needs some 23 - 25 MBytes on the HDD. You may run into problems with that low a quota ... But: try it out. It may work!
