Whats up guys. I'm new to distributed computing, but I've always been interested in doing it, if it would help out. So I joined the team, and I'm getting started. I'm looking forward to helping Team AT out.

Hey Sean D, welcome to the TeAm!! I guess you joined Rosetta, right? But even if not, you won't regret doing DC no matter what. It just feels great to do something for a good 'cause while you actually don't do anything but sit and watch you CPUs crunch away. 🙂

If you have any question, feel free to ask. We're here to help.

BTW: Nice PC and car 😉

Thanks BMC.

Congratulations on the 2,000,000 credits and the best day ever!!!!!

Congratulations to the other Milestone Maker!

Welcome to Scottish144 and Sean D!!!!

Hi TeAm! 🙂

Many thanks for the warm welcome in the stats thread a few days ago!
I've been away a couple of days, otherwise I would have given you all a nice cold beer then.

Still need to tweak my system some more, the same problem I had with F@H is also showing up with R@H..
My system returnes WU's with ' Client Error' messages, even when running at stock speeds or lower..
Probably a bad memory problem.. New memory is a bit expensive though (2x 1Gb Corsair PC3500 cl2, 1T)..

But otherwise it's running fine 🙂

Happy new year TeAm! :gift:😀

Hi CyGor,

I also get the client error messages on all of my systems. I don't think it is a local problem though.

@Cygor:

Right now, I'd assume that these problems are NOT due to your computer but due to Rosetta. There are some bad WUs out there these days. If your WUs error out after about 30 seconds, it's NOT you fault but Rosetta's. If some WUs get stuck on 1% for more than 4 hours, it's NOT you but Rosetta.

Just make sure you set "leave application in memory" to "yes" in your general seetings on a BOINC site.

If WUs error out despite "app in memory" and while bein like 50% complete, then it's probably your PC.

Welcome Sean D, to the Rosetta@Home -TeamAnandtech. If you have question, just ask here or open a thread ...

Nice car and nice rig - should crunch a lot ...
BTW, in the 1980-ies I lived in MD too, Rockville, just of the Rockville Pike. I had a lot of fun, have still some good friends there (e-mail is wonderful 🙂 ) worked at the NIH.
Just realized - that is 20 years ago ... how time flies ... 😉 .

Welcome aboard Sean D. You picked an awsome team to join! Thank you for joining us!

-Sid

CyGoR and Dalephi, If you have the leave work in memory selected to YES and your boinc is moving along to the next WU when one fails out.. you're fine.
(Those funky units have to go through 11 failures from different users before they are cancled.)

Thanks for the stats!

Can someone look at my times HERE? My production has droped and they seem slow. I'm running optimized apps from http://boinc.truxoft.com/.

Enigma is a Opty 170 @ 2.6x2, 2GB Ram
AXP22 is a A64 FX @ 2.4, 1GB Ram
AXP26 is a AXP M @ 2.2, 1GB Ram
HTPC is AXP M @ 2.35, 1GB Ram
Server is a AXP MP @ 1.6x2, 512M Ram

Thanks

HiYa Reaper

Your times are looking OK. I noticed that my WUs are longer than I was seeing a couple weeks ago. It's just different units. The credit is time based so it shouldn't be an impact on our overall production. I noticed with Free-DC updating @6hours, that some updates are smaller and some are larger (depending on luck of the draw in timing of uploads/updates) but they seem to even out in the end.

Did you know that since you are running truxoft, you can add the line '# return_results_immediately' (no quotes) to the text file 'remote_hosts.cfg' in your client's boinc directory? (create the file if it isn't already there) and the completed results will upload immediately upon completion rather than building up to the next scheduled net contact.

-Sid

They are letting some of the other project scientists send some of their work through now which is also why we are getting the different names for the work units.

It is set to yes but I still get quite a few of the client errors. Not really worried about them though. I agree that it is a Rosseta problem and not mine.

Thanks for your help Sid.
