WELCOME to Rosetta ken008 and Doublejr

Great to see you with us!

ken008.... do I remember that name? Didn't you crunch DF with me so long ago? If You are the same... get ready for some dejavu. I've been struck with the similarity between this project and that one ever since I began (only a week ago). I liked the thrust of that project (if not the administration) and am thrilled to be continuing with it using Rosetta.

With one BIG difference.

The Rosetta forum and it's members is(are) awsome!
I'm home with a bug today and spent a little time browsing over there. This is a very new project and of course there are lots of questions and a few issues. The cool thing I found was that EVERY thread was nothing but supportive. and get this... THE PROJECT DEVELOPER PARTICIPATED.. no sarcasm, no scolding from self appointed forum police... just lots of understanding, support and a genuine desire to help. (You could almost believe you were at AT  )

what a breath of fresh air!

(remember the days of waiting weeks for a sign of life from the project heads?... not here.)

I love this project. Hope you enjoy it as well.

I can only second that!

welcome ken008 and doublejr

thanks for the stats BMC

hey Sid, what bug are you speaking about? i had an odd one last nite (or at least discovered last nite) where my sons machine was doing nothing. no errors or stuck on 1% thing. it was just idle.

i had noticed my temps way low and checked the boinc, all appeared well but when i opened task manager i had 0 cpu usage. so i looked more closely at boinc and the timers were frozen, still showed "running" but time was stuck.

😕 that was the first i saw of that so i took it as a good time to upgrade the boinc client with the "optimized" version freewolf kindly linked me to.

anyway, lets keep rolling 🙂 nice production from BT, BMC and TE 😉

LOL

The bug that is keeping me home is either a nasty cold or mild flu.

As to the stuck at 1% flaw you found, it is believed to have been remedied with the version 4.79 (and above) rosetta client(s). Go into your boinc manager and look under the work tab. Any Rosetta work units (Ready to run) that indicate client version 4.78 need to be aborted (click on the work unit to highlight it and then hit the abort button.) This advise came from the Rosetta forum.

On a side note, the optimized boinc client generates exagerated benchmarks and leads to claiming higher credit for work units than normal.
I have no personal issue with anyone using it (like my vote matters anyway) but I did want to make sure you (and anyone who cares) knows that some consider using it to be cheating. (a bit reactionary IMO)
My opinion? .... I just use the "real" boinc client so I don't have to worry about it. I'd hate to have my work discounted at some later date.

edited to correct the client version numbers I had posted

Welcome ken008 and Doublejr ! We are the Best DC TeAm in the World!. 😀

Thanks for the thread, BlackMountainCow.

Welcome to TeAm R@H ken008 and Doublejr 😀

Thanks for making the best even better 😀

Thanks for the stats BMC

Looks like production keeps rising 😀

lol at the "bug" Sid 😛 sorry to hear that.

thanks for the info on the optimized client, i didn't realize that. i'll have to think that over. i thought it was more on par with leveling the field between cpu's, not granting higher rewards on the same cpu.

Rise,
You made me curious so I posted over at Rosetta to see what they had to say about it. Turns out it really isn't much of a big deal in the opinions of the folks that posted replys.

here is the thread
