nice job all c!!

welcome aboard zensai 😉

thanks for the thread BMC 😛

Looking forward to that first century member. 😀

I've just offloaded close to a week's worth of results from my offline rig. It's starting to feel like I might get the hang of this weekly routine after all.

Thank you BMC. 🙂

Welcome to TA Rosetta@Home, Zensal. 😀

Congrats to the milestone makers.😛

Thanks for the stats BMC! 🙂
And welcome to the TeAm Zensal!!

Does Rosetta has the same setting like Seti for BOINC where I can set the buffer size?
Couldn't find it in any of the settings on the site..
My pc is currently only downloading one or two WU's at a time, I would like to increase it a bit..

Under your account webpage, general preferences, there should be a cache setting. I've been setting it to 7 days with satisfactory results.

@CyGoR

There's only one setting for all BOINC projects. Just keep in mind, that when you set cache to 7 days and you have two projects on a PC sharing 50/50, BOINC will download 7 days worth of cache for EACh project, meaning that you'll have 14 days of of work on your PC. Usually, that's not a problem, but with some short deadlines it might be. In that case I'd set the cache to 3.5 and you have a week worth of work.

🙂

Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm currently crunching with DPAD with TAS and needed a back-up. Especially since DPAD leaves about 15% of the CPUs on my dualies unused.

Thanks for the stats BMC

I feel like a real n00b here 😱
I really cannot find that one setting for the cache..
Could someone please give my an URL to the site where I can login and set the preferences?
Thanks!

@CyGoR

Go to any BOINC project's website you participate --> your account --> View or edit general preferences --> Connect to network about every XX

Change the XX to whatever cache size in days you'd like to have.

🙂

😀 thanks, that was easy!

Ok, next question:
I'm running Windows and Linux (SuSe 10.0 64bits) on my main system.. But the BOINC performance is very dramatic when compairing both OS'es..

Windows Bechmark:
2262.37 million ops/sec
4210.99 million ops/sec

Linux Benchmark:
1124.44 million ops/sec
2082.7 million ops/sec

Windows is just over twice as fast!! Why?!?
Also when looking at the points/time for each OS, a WU which finished in about ~7000 CPU seconds:
Windows time/points:
7,177.98 / 23.80

Linux time/points:
6,994.23 / 12.98

During the day I prefer using Linux (for work etc) and in the evening/night I use Windows (for gaming 😉)
So using Linux costs me a LOT of points..

[edit]
I just tried an optimized client for Linux and this is the result:
2265 double precision MIPS
6568 integer MIPS
If this is right... well... that would be nice! It is only the BOINC core client, so not the Rosetta part..
So I don't know how the WU's will behave, but I'll find out 🙂
[/edit]

@ CyGoR:
I think - if I remember correctly - that this is a known "bug". I do not know if the bug is in Linux or in Windows ... (i.e. if the scores are inflated in Win or deflated in Linux, but I have the impression [from some discussions I have read] that the Intel compiler is a lot more aggressive then the GNU-compiler).
I think there are some "optimized" clients (i.e. BOINC-manager etc) which calculate the benchmarks similarly to Windows. Please remember then to download the correct client for your processor. I just now can not remember 🙁 where I saw those clients - be back when I remember ...

Edit: spelling ... and an addition (about compilers)
