Rosetta Boinc Manager question

I noticed the new Boinc manager is version 5.8.8.

The machine I'm on at this moment is running 5.4.11

Does it make a difference? Does the newer manager have some type of algorithmic advantage as far as crunching goes?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

No, the new manager does not affect the crunching at all - it only manages the WUs, sends and receives the WUs, keeps track of credits.
The crunching is done by a projcet-specific application - and those are updated now and then - ususally you do not even realise that has happened. 🙂

The new manager looks (IMO) better - in the graphic configuration - and has some bug-fixes. It is an evolutionary update, not revolutionary.

if you're running 2 projects or more at the same time, i recommend to upgrade, because it now switches between applications not only at a specific time, but also AFTER the last checkpoint. This improves the crunching speed.
