There's a good chance that Trump is handing the Senate to the Democrats.

He's certainly intent on stacking the deck in their favor which is quite an accomplishment considering the difficulty of the senate map for Dems this year.

Worse long term could be the effect on other statewide races and state legislatures. The GOP spent many years building up control and majorities that could be wiped out by a bad turn in the upcoming elections. Districting could definitely be impacted reducing the some of the structural advantages that the GOP has built for themselves.

The negative of course is that Kavanaugh is more likely to get the SCOTUS appointment as eliminating Rosenstein is more than academic it seems. Kavanaugh will protect them and Trump, not a quality that's to be underestimated.

This is another horrific but amusing statement from the recent past.

“I’d like to make something crystal clear to the president. Mr. President, any attempt to remove Rod Rosenstein will create the exact same constitutional crisis as if you fired Special Counsel Mueller,” majority leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said earlier this year. “Don’t do it, do not go down this path. For the sake of our country, we plead with you. Don’t put this country through a constitutional crisis.”

In other news this is very crisisey from a crisis perspective.

Mueller goes and Trump is in until 2020
I'd bet RR checks with Mueller before leaving. Hay, make sure that report is up to date, multiple copies are distributed to designated holders.

Is this McCabe getting his revenge?
Doubtful.

McCabe: "I had no role in providing information of any kind to the media stories about events following Director Comey's firing. If the rumors of Deputy AG's Rosenstein's departure are true, I am deeply concerned that it puts that investigation at risk."

Not him personally. Rumor has it that it was one of his cronies.

What if the so-called resignation agreements broke down last week because Rosenstein has papers to serve the POTUS?
What if he is going to the WH to serve them, to the Trump clan and/or Trump himself? lol
Wishful thinking. But don't worry--if Rosenstein is indeed fired, I'd expect to see a slew of indictments unsealed, elections be damned.

One of the concerns I had from the outset were Kav's views on presidential power. More power and deference to the executive would not seem to be the right prescription for the republic right now.

He looks a bit like Goebbels. Sorry but I watch a lot of the History Channel and I noticed a slight resemblance. And no political connotation with it. That would be absurd.
