Also, 9 times out of 10, a free mmo ain't going to be pretty. In fact, they could be uglier than games made 5 years ago.

And the language it was written in is usually java or vb...

Oooookaaaayy!!

See how much I know? My experience is limited to non-MMORPGs so I'll just leave this stuff to you big hitters!

The concept of a free MMO has yet to flourish into an actual decent product from my experience. I've tried some, but they certainly cannot come close to comparing with the real deal. And the cost to play an MMO is trivial really.

One of the best free mmo's to date was called "Odyssey Online" and was written in VB IIRC.

Well,

I've never really played MMORPGs, but this one is strangely addictive - my daughter really likes it and the price is right.

I started yesterday and I'm hooked. I was growing tired of Ragnarok Online and thought of trying soemting new. While it has some kind of RO feeling in it its completely different in aspect of lvling, skill system and so on. Strangely fun. I hope it lasts

My daughter wants to play this, but it's asking for the Virus protection s/w to be disabled.. is that actually necessary? It doesn't seem like a good thing... ?!

these are one of those free online-korean leveling rpgs manifested and defiled by the hordes of immature players that violate and disgrace the community of human nature.

I played this for a time but think of this game in beta for years or so.

They reset the servers every 2 months or so and it gets kind of pointless after the first wipe.

played it for a bit a few months ago, but it got repetitive. Basically grind in one area til u can go onto another place, find ur strategy to kill, begin grinding... =\

Actually Shattered Galaxy was free for a long time and it was a great game albeit a MMORTS not a MMORPG. It was good back in the early beta stages then they started to shift the core game play. I believe it's still free but you can upgrade to a premium account for 6 bucks. I have only played it once since it went commercial and it seemed too different from the early phases to my liking. In my opinion Nexon took a good game and ruined it.

EDIT: I only have good memories of the game and I'm always tempted to download it but I know I won't be getting what it used to be. I haven't played in 4-5 years so I don't know what they've changed. Who knows it could have possibly turned into a really good game.

I started playing this about 2 weeks ago and its fun if you enjoy MMORPGs. The only reason its free is not because its crappy but because its in beta. Just like RagnarokOnline was beta for a few years before becoming pay. Same developer and similiar gameplay. Fun game.

Well with the reset they do every few months makes leveling a pain over time.

This game has been in beta for a long time and I don't see it going p2p anytime soon and will not be worth it once it does since they have no support and many dupe hacks are ruining the economy.
