Rooted Phone/OTA Updates

Rooted Evo
Running stock ROM

Sprint says there is a mandatory update to voice mail. Can I run this update or might it hose my Root?

If you used Unrevoked Forever then you should be good to go. That is a permanent NAND unlock. I'd make a nandroid backup in ClockworkMod first, though.

You probably don't even need to run the update to be honest, but maybe go read XDA before just to make sure.

You're fine. It just updates the VM app, not the phone software. I did this a couple weeks ago.

I guess it doesn't matter.
I get the notice of a mandatory update.
I run the updater. It tells me a mandatory update is available. I run the update and get a "General Error" and it fails to install. Been going on since I started this thread.
Notification won't go away. meh.

Ha just kidding. Google will tell you if you would like to know. If you ever decide to start customizing your phone more, that is a term you will need to know and understand for sure.
