I rooted my HDX. So what exactly can I do with it now?
What I'd really like is to remove the stupid carousel but all I can find is how to do it without rooting which is to use another launcher but they apparently break the Kindle app?

I'm not into Google's apps or widgets but what else can I do now that I couldn't before?

You may have created a colorful brick. Did you have some worthy guidance on this beforehand?

What? I didn't say I bricked it. I rooted it, so now that it's rooted, what more can I do with it? I mostly want to get rid of carousel or get Kitkat to put on it but not sure what else I can actually do with it.

I haven't rooted mine, so I'm not speaking from experience, but afaik there's nothing particularly magical about a rooted Kindle -- just that you can now do anything with it you can do with a regular Android tablet.

Some, if not all, of the Kindle functions can be duplicated with Amazon "apps for Android". Otherwise, you can use whatever other Android apps you can find. If you're not interested in Google apps, you're kind of limiting yourself, but there are other app sources available, too.
