I have a stand alone webserver win 2000 server. I want to install dns and it
gives me the option between installing a root server if this is the first name server on the network and if you select the other option you have to provide IP of another machine.
What should I pick ? I am only going to serve the internet and as far as I am concerned a root server on the internet is the ones taking care of the top level domains. So should I pick the other option and if so why do I have to list another DNS Server ? The server is born with the info about the root servers on the net, so it shouldn't be necessary to list another, except for the requirement to have atleast 2 DNS, but is that the reason ?
