Hi
I have encountered another problem at my first attempt in setting up a domain with W2k machines.
Well I have only got 1 DC which is running the DNS service. Since it's the root DNS I can't enable forwards in it. I need to do that so that I can put my ISP's DNS address there to allow my network to access the internet.
Currently I have simply put the ISP's DNS address in the DHCP service along with the DNS of the DC. This gave me a problem where the workstation machine would log an error in the event log saying it can't find the DC but still I logged on ok and is able to ping the DC and get net access through RRAS.
I checked up the MS KB and it say I should put the ISP's DNS as a forwarder in the DNS. Since this is the root DNS I am unable to do that.
Now is there a way that I can perhaps get around this? Maybe create another zone?? I believe it must remain as root as it's the only DNS server on the network at home.
Any help is much appreciated.
