Roommate's laptop resets resolution to 800x600 when he restarts

Ever since he installed SP2..no matter how many times he puts the resolution at 1024x768, whenever he restarts the resolution goes back to 800x600.

Under device manager there are 4 "Default monitors" listed uner monitors, and even if I disable 3 or all 4 of them or remove them, they'll come back and just list all 4 again. . .

Any ideas on what I can do?
