Oh yeah you need to take that email to the police right away and then head over to the guys place so you can laugh your ass off while he gets hauled in.

As for the network of friends, save your breath. He won't get it. Keep everything simple and sweet; keep off my stuff, period. That's all that you really need to say. Putting your theatre stuff in your room probably isn't too bad of an idea right now.

Whatever you do, don't give him the "network of friends" speach, if I have to even read that again I would kick your ass. You're going to have to lower your mental habits a bit to communicate with this guy, but don't lower your guard. (look out for a poke in the eye, jusy remember: wax-on wax-off)

totally... this speech is not bad for an educated, quasi-inteligent person, but he sounds like a total retard and won't understand most of it. neways is he bigger than you? im not so big myself but i would threaten to use force immediately in a situation like this... wtf ... :|

I'm 6'3", he's 5'11"-ish.

Subject: listen up chris leave my buddy mike alone,

"he called me up and told me you(his roommate) was being a b!tch to him, because he had a few friends over. Listen here mother f*cker, just because you don\'t have any cool friends doesn\'t mean you have to make my buddie\'s life miserable. You sound like a f*cking loser just like he said.

I swear to God, if my hommie calls me up again, and tells me you\'r harrassing him, i\'m going to come down there and beat your mother f*cking ass. Understand a$shole!!!"

I don't know if I should break out into fits of laughter, run away scared, or just report this instantly. I just printed it out.

EDIT: it's from a Yahoo! .ca account- do I have anything to worry about?

wow dude... this is getting a lot more serious than would be comfortable for anyone... i know i haven't been participating so far but i read everything and unless you can find a way to get down to his level somehow it seems pretty lost.

about the email, its probably him writing it just to intimidate you... and if not id be a lil wary about it...

could you get the university to throw him out? thing is, if you did, he'd prolly be out to get you and fsck with your sh!t n stuff... = way too much paranoia ..

Exactly- this Yahoo address is from Canada though! WTF? I thought that was pretty funny, but who knows where this punk is. To be honest with you, I am shaken up now. Even if I can get him evicted, I'm going to have to start driving a different car and all kinds of crap. Sounds like he has a 'posse'! :Q

I already removed some critical wires from the back so everything is disabled, and moved all my DVDs back into my room. Still, thousands of dollars of stuff is sitting out there- I'm debating about skipping my class in a half hour to get this taken care of (moving it all in here). Is this serious enough that I should take care of this immediately, priority one?

do you think you could take him on? are you at least moderately intimidating? if so use it to your advantage... and yes, the home theatre would be a lot safer in your room...

I probably could- it's obvious now with him blowing me off and walking away, and this E-mail I got, that he's probably just a coward, passive wuss that can't do anything without someone backing him. I've got a friend off-campus that I'm thinking about asking to keep my car for me, and I've got a car cover for it as well. My GTI (see sig) is my pride and joy and I sure as hell don't want to find some prick who has slashed my tires or keyed it. I'm thinking I need to relocate it today.

Is this serious enough that I should take care of this immediately, priority one?

if its not an important class, skip it and clear your important stuff up...

show the email to cool roommate... what does he have to say about this?

neways the email just crossed a line ... i dont mean to freak you out but maybe you should just give in...

like would it really hurt ya to move out and find a better place? i know its the pu$$y-ass thing to do but sometimes its better to back down from situations like this... he sounds pretty messed up...

oh and aboot the email being from canada... well i dont think theres a direct correlation between its provenance and how scared you should be, eh? neways if he created the account himself he could have created a bogus account from canada ...

Anyone that knows how to trace E-mail addresses, I would appreciate a PM to find out where the origin of this E-mail is coming from. I'd like lists of pings and nodes, et al. If you know how, holler. I will probably take this to the police here in a minute.

Should I tape the printed E-mail out to his door? Write in a big black Sharpie marker, "Care to explain this? Real cute on the Canadian E-mail address, by the way." (optional: "you and your 'homie' have been reported to campus and city authorities")?

harassment is NOT taken nicely at universities.

i know of one guy at my university that was expelled for writing such an email.

go to the head dean of students and show it to him, see if you can get him in academic trouble too. i'm not sure how they will take it though, they may blow it off because you two are room mates.

man, if it were me, i think i would strongly consider sitting and waitting in a chair right out side of the door, so when he walks in, i stand up and lunch at him with my fist - or a bat, whatever is most comfortable. this would not be the most logical decision though.

get a restraining order on his ass too.

I think you should turn in that E-mail to the police and to the school.. cuz if you just move your $hit back to your room.. they would think you are a pushover and the problem will be there.

another reason that I moved back home

Print out the emails (the one you wrote and the one you recieved) and go to housing now. Do not post back until you do that.

it when like he won't be legally allowed to get within x feet from you, ever again. im not sure what the exact number is but rest-assured, if he's ever seen near you again his ass will go to the big house...and you know what they make ya do there...toss the salad :D

seriously though, unless he gets expelled the restraining order wouldn't work too good cuz u both in the same university... take the email to whoever is responsible asap

Ok, thanks guys- I just printed out multiple copies and am leaving to head to Housing/Dean/Police. I'm taking my car to someone else's house with the car cover and riding my bike back. I'll keep you posted here in another couple hours. I am going to skip my class to get this taken care of. Last thing I need is for him to show up here, and even worse, with 'friends'.
