Stats don't really matter, the only thing that matters is if the camera is able to capture images that you are satisfied with. So I guess technically if he plans on taking pictures of fast moving objects then that could be his main point of interest in a camera.

Sure... that's why I bought a 4.1MP with 10x optical zoom, it's certainly not because I wanted to be able to make great 8x10s of objects far away from me. All the stats mean something, it just depends what you're looking for.
