I get back from class today and pour myself a glass of water from the tap. I notice that the water that's in the sink isn't draining, so I grab a flashlight and take a look. THe inside of the drain is quite literally packed with macaroni noodles.

He left and I need to use the sink for dinner, so I've been pouring boiling water down the drain for the pas thalf-hour or so, with no noticeable effect. This being a college apartment, we're missing a lot of stuff like a plunger or a drain cleaner. Should I go out and purchase em, should I wait it out (Maybe the macaroni will harden overnight, be easier to remove?) or is there some third option?

Thanks, ATOT!

The winning soution was Jtoxic's, to remove the u-pipe and clean it out from there. That was really goddamn nasty, I'm going to punch this kid when he gets back.

maintenance guy sounds good. I can't think of any carbohydrate dissolving substances off the top of my head, though...

Pour 1 cup of baking soda down the drain followed by 1 cup of hot vinegar. Try heating the vinegar in the microwave before adding it to the drain. Wait 5 minutes before flushing the drain with 2 quarts of hot water

But than again, I don't think it will work to well in breaking down those solids.

Get under the sink and take the pipes apart. If you look where the drain U's at the bottom, the U peice usually unscrews and comes off.
