I'm not a user of winXP, but does it have IIS like win2k? If not, just set up a FTP.

You have to download a server program, which i prefer is serv u.
THen you set it up and make a account with which your friend can log in with.
Then you specify what folder(s) your friend can acess .
If you have a router you have to goto the filter set and let ftp traffic throu and forward port 21 to your computer

This will let your do what you want and telll your friend to do the same thing then you acn acess each other files(any type not only mp3s)

oh and to check that the server is working properly

on your computer when the serer program is running type

ftp://user:pass@localhost if your see your files then its working if not go check/mess with the options in the software

if its working then give this link to your friend:

ftp://user:pass@youripadress

Windows XP pro has IIS in it which comes with an FTP server.
The only drawback is that it doesnt support RESUME, so if your friends get disconnected 95% of the way through a file they have to start all over again.

Serv-U is great and War-FTp is good too!
