Rookie needs help on first build :(

ok this is the situation...ive put all my pieces in hooked up the power, the led lights on the motherboard light up and when i press the power button....a very loud whining/constant beep is all i am rewarded with. did i mention it is earsplitting loud? thaere is no signal going to the monitor either, although the fans all spin and power lights come on.

512 samsung ram stick
80 gb western digital sata HDD
cd-rom/writer
p4 prescot 3ghz 800mhx FSB 1MB cache
evga geforce 6800

please, can anyone help? 🙁

 
Make sure the CPU fan and the video card molex are plugged in. While you're at it, make sure everything else is inserted securely (RAM, pci cards). If they are, you might need to re-seat the CPU heatsink as it may not be making good contact.
