roof rack for kayaks

Looking for a couple roof rack kayak carriers for our explorer that can be quickly removed and put on another vehicle. We have 2 kayaks, so will need a pair of whatever we get. Any of you out there transport a kayak on the roof of your vehicle and have suggestions on what brand(s) to look at in particular?

Prices are all over the board, and I want to get something good that will hold up and not break.

Doesn't your Exploder have rails? Should be easy to get the crossbars to mount a kayak for that. As for it fitting other vehicles, you'll likely need a separate fit kit for each car.

You might need a complete rack for whatever car you want to carry them on as the rails might not work with both vehicles. Yakima and Thule have fit kits and racks for most cars though. Check their websites.

I have a Thule roof rack for my Mercedes so I can easily carry my mountain bike or road bike. I only put it on there when I'm going to carry my bike though as it is kind of noisy with it mounted permanently. It takes me about 5 minutes to mount it and remove it.
 
exploder has rails as does the 4runner, so i want to move it between vehicles as needed. I'm also researching a small trailer we could use for multiple use items.
