I got one of his "Ronco Pocket Fisherman" rigs for christmas one year. Definitely not one of the better fishing combos I've ever had...but I did catch some hella nice trout with it over the years.

Me too. Sometimes I would stay up until like 2a.m. watching his infomercial. Definitely time well spent!

there was him, and george foreman, and that one lady who worked in all the infomercials

and billy mays and the slapchop guy!

and also the sleazeball kevin trudeau, but he doesn't count

I remember Ronco records. Didn't realize he made so many albums.

I wonder if the resale value will spike? This was the first thing to pop in my mind too except I recall it as "Popeil's Pocket-fisherman" by Ronco.

RIP :(

I have the Ronco pocket fisherman. You throw it in your pack on day hikes if you don't want to pack a pole. Works great in a pinch. This guy made a ton of cool stuff.

One of my brushes with fame-I saw him give one of his presentations live at a state fair once. No stage or anything, just gave his spiel before a group of 15-20 people. He impressed me by not just phoning it-he gave it his patented full bore enthusiasm.

I guess it wasn't all the memorable-I neither bought nor have the slightest recollection of what is was selling.
