Because his acolytes want to lend him an additional air of legitimacy. It's as if his being a doctor makes him superior to all other congressmen and is relevant to his role.

Yeah... was kind of a rhetorical question. More of an observation. Definitely an attempt to make him appear to be more of an outsider than he is in an effort to recruit anyone who might not already know who he is.

Maybe the republicans should run him. It's unlikely that anyone in the current crowd will beat Obama. Might as well offer up the sacrificial lamb and let the real candidates save themselves for 2016.

I am a Ron Paul supporter but you are NUTS if you think he would have done it faster. Yes, we would not have been in the Iraq war but as Dr. Paul says himself, he wants to dismantle the CIA. Dr. Paul would have dismantled the very groups that helped us catch Bin Laden. He would have also started to dismantle the DoD in general. So once again, how would he have caught him?

Of course of the two now, I support Gary Johnson over Dr. Paul due to Gary's positions on drugs, immigration, and abortion.
