Thought some of you would be interested in this.
This is a letter from the Washington state coordinator.

By StingingNettle | February 10, 2008

Hello everyone,
By our very preliminary count from you reports it is looking like we have at least twice the delegates as the other candidates!!
For this day and until the count shows otherwise I want you to congratulate yourselves for WINNING Washington State for Ron Paul!!
I wish I could share every single story I have heard over the past few days and all the happy reports from Ron Paul enclaves in WA towns I have never even heard of!
Please know this?the National Campaign is seeing these kind of successes all over the country?Every day that goes by we have new supporters and new contributers. I can't believe I am saying this?I thought certainly I would sleep for 4 days once the 9th was over?but I am already so excited to prepare for our County Conventions!! The next few weeks are going to be very important? There were stories from almost every precinct about Huckabee and Romney voters changing their support to Ron Paul. Unfortunately some of the biggest threats to the Freedom Revolution can still come from within?our own perceptions?please read Ron's letter again until you see the part that states he we are going to the National Convention! You know things have changed every day in this campaign with new information and new victories changing the course?now we have given him Washington and made the road to the Minneapolis a lot more golden!!
I will update you all when we get more final results?
You all did a wonderful job. Just wonderful.

Thank you for all you do!
Maureen McMahan Moore
Washington State Coordinator
Ron Paul 2008

Don't expect too see anything in any national media outlet though.
At this point all the major media outlets have become overt when it comes to ignoring news on the Paul front as any of you who have been to a Paul gathering are probably already aware.
Congratulations to everyone in Washington state who worked diligently & faithfully to make this victory possible.
For the record Ron Paul would have to take the delegate lead in five states to be able to have even a swing at a brokered convention. Chances are still slim as you all know but it's still a wonderful thing to see this victory.

:)

What elects a candidate, the delegates or the straw poll count?

For my 8888'th post, I'm going to give the P&N forum this important message...

Ron Paul LOST. Get Over It

I think that everyone here should put THAT in their signatures for a few weeks until everyone finally gets the message!

Then you need to be honest with yourself.

Paul did NOT win Washington.

Pauls support is miniscule in number.

Paul is not gaining any traction.

People making wacko claims like Ron Paul won Washington is just another reason for people to immediately discount anything Ron Paul says, because the thinking is if his supporters are so wacky, HE must be wacky too.

No.

I see no one else that is worthy of my vote. I am tired of voting for the lesser evil. I have been convinced to vote for the lesser evil for my entire life. And finally, after earning a degree in political science, I've learned that voting for the lesser evil is always worse than voting for the one that is not evil at all - regardless of the level of support.

Voting for Ron Paul, if it causes the liberal frontrunner to lose, will cause the Republican party to either move in the right direction - or continue to lose.

As a Washingtonian I'm really hoping for it... give us that dubious distinction! Governor Ron Paul? Hmmm?

I have some related information concerning the state of Alaska from a fellow Alaskan;

Today we held our local district conventions and selected our delegates to the State convention in Alaska. We turned out the Paulites! Not only did we get a clear majority of delegates to the state (we were very organized and completely stealthy in this - it was like a surprise attack by Ron Paul), but listen to this...

While we were there we voted on platform changes for the state GOP. You will not believe some of the stuff that passed..

He goes on to say some significant things about the GOP in Alaska.

I will let other decipher this but I think the meaning is rather obvious.
For the record LA is still contested and far from over as the Ron Paul campaign is taking LA to court.

Also everyone should watch Washington DC closely. I believe this is one of the strongest spots in the nation for Ron Paul as the GOP has shrunk considerably. This might turn into a big surprise just as Washington state will.

Truth is stranger than fiction and history is full of surprises.

Another related update;
Fox News Exclusive: Huckabee Campaign Calls for ?Full Investigation? into Washington State Results
by Fin Gomez

Richmond, VA-

Fox News has learned that the Huckabee campaign has called for a ?full investigation? into the Washington State Caucus results, and are sending campaign lawyers to the state to help in that pursuit. Ed Rollins, Huckabee campaign chairman, directly challenged Washington State GOP Chairman Luke Essers move in anounncing that John McCain had won the tight race with only 87.2 percent of the votes counted.

?The chairman showed very bad judgement in stopping the voting last night when announcing John McCain had won, when there was less that a 200 vote margin between the two candidates,? Rollins told Fox in an exclusive interview.? You never announce a vote, in my 40 years of politics I have never know anybody to announce a vote count before the vote is counted.?

Rollins was quick to say that they were not accusing the McCain campaign of any impropriety but that their issue was soley with the Esser?s ?bad judgement?.

Fox News was given unprecedented access to a strategy session today, with the Huckabee campaign inner circle. Ed Rollins, the national campaign chairman, lead the meeting where the main topic was how to challenge the Washington caucus results. Rollins also said their attorneys have attempted to contact Essers but as of this writing he had not returned their phone calls.

According to the state tally,McCain won 26 percent of delegates, Huckabee garnered 24 percent.

Source: Fox News

Note that both Huck & McCain only account for 50% of the delegates.

I don't know, I knew he was going to lose when I voted for him, but I did it anyways. Delegates are a nice measure of support.

I'm not sure he will drop out until the $$$ is gone or until he has to start campaigning for his Senate seat again.

Why would he want to give up the high-life and free publicity he's gaining by staying in, even when he gets fewer votes than Mickey Mouse does write-ins?

according to Yahoo Ron Paul is cutting his staff and running....
http://www.usatoday.com/news/p...02-09-4286727701_x.htm

HOUSTON (AP) ? Presidential hopeful Ron Paul said he will not run as a third-party candidate in a new message to supporters that seems to recognize his slim chances at getting the Republican nomination.
The Texas congressman wrote on his Web site Friday that he is making cuts to his national campaign staff and that he must also stay focused on not losing the primary for his House seat.

Paul began Saturday with just 14 delegates for the Republican nomination that John McCain, with 719 delegates, has all but officially secured. Mitt Romney dropped out of the race Thursday, and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee has 198 delegates. A total of 1,191 delegates are needed to secure the GOP nomination.

"With Romney gone, the chances of a brokered convention are nearly zero," Paul wrote. "But that does not affect my determination to fight on, in every caucus and primary remaining, and at the convention for our ideas, with just as many delegates as I can get."

Paul wrote that while he does not denigrate third parties he is committed to staying a Republican. His campaign supports low taxes and reduced government spending.

Pardon my ignorance - it says "Presidential hopeful Ron Paul said he will not run as a third-party candidate in a new message to supporters that seems to recognize his slim chances at getting the Republican nomination." - How does saying you won't run as a 3rd party imply you are giving up on the republican nomination? Isn't the opposite true? If he thought he was going to get the Republican nomination, of course you wouldn't run as a third party (since you are getting the Republican nomination).

This AP story has 'spin' written all over it.

For the record it was communicated to me from someone who spoke with Carol Paul that that was not written by Ron Paul.
Obviously Rons chances at a brokered convention are slim but definitely not zero.

Yes Ron has cut his staff from 150 to 50. He is still however in the race and will absolutely be at the national convention which just happens to be in Saint Paul, MN this year. :)
At the same time Ron is running for a seat in congress yet this will nit distract from the bigger picture.
Ron Paul will be seeing his candidacy through to completion as his support is growing each day. Ego plays no part in the equation. What is at stake here is a nation.
