I can't quite figure out of Jon Stewart is really for Ron Paul, or just making fun of the media, and the Republican nomination process.

Ron Paul's problem has never been that he's not honest, consistent or principled enough. The problem is that his views aren't that popular and he doesn't come across as Presidential. Maybe a total outside candidate with non-mainstream views can sweep the election, but Ron Paul's been around for quite a while and has consistently failed to get very far in the process.

Of course they aren't, that's because the tit would run dry. He isn't very "presidential", whatever that's supposed to mean, you mean he's not a slick snake oil salesman?

I think he has a decent chance to win Iowa, and a decent chance to win 2nd in NH.

Getting the nomination will be quite hard still and definitely an uphill battle.
Intrade has him about 9%, I'd say that's about right.
Agreed. That's about where I'd score him.

I wonder though. There's something to be said for standing by your principles. But if you DO get elected, you have to be the President of the whole country. Refusing to compromise or be in any way politically flexible is not a good trait in a President, IMO.
<cough> Obama <cough>

I think Ron is the only one that could beat Obama
I think any of the Republican candidates COULD beat Obama and none of the Republican candidates WILL beat Obama.

Of course, I also read "Dreams from my father" and thought "no way will America elect this wackadoodle", so your mileage may vary.

your prefer a huge money+Power driven douche with no principles/ethics/morals?

Of course they all do.

They admit to knowing all the other candidates lie. But they like the lies they are told, so they support them.

For example: Newt is a liar, but I agree with his position on Education. (not me, just an example). Ron Paul is honest, and I disagree with what he wants to do with the Federal Reserve, and military.

People are so blinded to not even see the logical fallacy. If all the candidates were honest, and integrity driven, then it would be fine to pick and choose based on policy stances. However, you either have Ron Paul, where you know where he stands on everything, or you have other candidates, and all you know is what they are lieing to you about.

All voting history does for most candidates is confirm that you can't trust them to do anything you expect them to do, or that they said they would do.

Is someone manipulating these polls to give everyone a chance at second place or is this just happening naturally?

Yes.

I think poll manipulation is a common practice. Also, when Ron Paul wins this you'll get to see most media outlets down play it.

And if Gingrich somehow wins, they'll pretend it's the be all end all of deciding who the republican nomination should be.

I can't quite figure out of Jon Stewart is really for Ron Paul, or just making fun of the media, and the Republican nomination process.

I think it's both. Obama followed through with nothing... and the rest of the GOP candidates are frauds. It's not hard for Ron Paul to rise to the top w\ the sort of competition he has.

Paul has put a lot of money and time in Iowa and built up a large grassroots campaign there. In addition you have the factor of a large portion of the GOP being now disgraced wackadoddles (Bachmann, Perry, Santorium, Cain)-their disgruntled supporters have to go somewhere. Both Romney and Gingrich make a lot of people gag, and for good reason.

Remember too Iowa is a caucus state-you don't just go and vote, you have to hang around for a substantial meeting. This favors those with activist followers.

I would not be surprised at a big turnout for Paul in Iowa-it's his best chance ever. How much of it is real support and how much is protest votes is open to debate.

I don't think there are many (if any) Democratic strategists worried Paul actually gets the GOP nomination. Heck if he did they'd probably have a wild celebration party.

A lot of his support seems to be coming from online, so have to see if that will transfer over to actual polling numbers.

I also wonder if age will become a factor for him if he does get more popular in the polls. He's 76 now, so I would assume this is his last run. If by some chance he actually becomes president he'd be 81 when his first term is over. While he seems healthy enough, he is getting up there and presidency seems to take a lot out of individuals. Be even more important who he would choose as VP then. Still I remember McCain having to fend some questions over his age, and he's younger.

His racist newsletters prevent him from being a viable national candidate. Just like Perry and his whole ranch fiasco. He's obviously not integrated into mainstream American society.

I sincerely, sincerely doubt that Jon Stewart would choose to support Ron Paul in a general election.

He never had a "racist newsletter", that's your complete lack of knowing what you are talking about, and letting the media tell you what to think going on there.

I agree with the other poster and say it's both. He has seemed quite supportive of Paul lately, even though you know he doesn't completely agree with him. It's the consistency and principles of the man that carry him.

Read Gary North. Greenbackism is closer to the Fed than it is to hard money 100% reservism.

Probably a hundred years ago there were quite a few Ron Pauls on the endangered list, now he is the last person who actually cares what the Constitution says. In a twisted way the more the country whores its self out for a easy time of things, the more extreme Paul may seem to everyone else. Its kind of like that story of a witch corrupting a whole town that begs their kings to drink the same koolaid. The king drinks the koolaid, Paul shames us by not and reminding Americans what this country use to stand for.

The system is so far gone that there is really little Paul can do that should frighten the frauds amongst us. He is still the most absolute sink or swim freedom candidate that in more sane times I wouldn't need to vote for him. But these are desperate times...Paul is the perfect person at a perfect time that the country need his presidency.

Hopefully at least we get to see Paul top the polls soon enough. Then watch what the establishment does. Watch the Jews, watch the Muslims, watch Walstreet, watch the gov spooks all UNITE in his destruction.

If Paul becomes President there will be a coup from just about every faction that are normally enemies.

Generator, the biggest difference he can make is changing conversation and bringing certain things to the public light. That'd be more than we could hope to ask for out of a President now a days.

Okay, for the first time ever, I spent about 15 minutes on his site, looking at what he's propose.

How the hell are people that stupid to believe that half of that stuff would work, or actually would be beneficial??

With Romney polling the way he is and all the other candidates rotating to first place and back again, I can't see any republican candidate beating Barack Obama. I just can't. The economy may be his to own but this slowdown started before he came into office (I'm not being technical here). None of the Republicans have the passion behind them to unite their base, let alone the larger electorate.

And, has any republican a plan for the economy that isn't just lowering taxes on the rich and corps, and gutting regulations that benefit only the rich? We know that doesn't work allready.

It's funny hearing people I know who laughed at Ron Paul over the years for being "crazy" now saying they're going to vote for him because he's the only Republican candidate that isn't shit.
Compared to the Bedlam refugees that comprise the bulk of the Republican candidacy, Dr. Paul seems quite normal. Put him in normal company and you may start to realize he still has his little 'quirks'...
