I don't get it. I've seen this before, and seen articles or other written things with "an hero".
It makes no grammatical sense. How the hell is one pronouncing "hero" to deduce "an" is required before it and an "a".
Vowel sounds = an
consonant sounds = a

hero = he'row
thus, consonant... thus "a hero"

1) It's a 4chan meme. If a person kills himself, he becomes "an hero."
That's my understanding of it anyway.

2) Some people leave the "h" silent when pronouncing most words which start with it.
For example, "huge" is pronounced "yuge," without any h-sound at the beginning, hence it would be preceded with "an" instead of "a."

ron jeremy is a hero for living far better than a shlub like him would be expected to. tapping some pretty fine booty is pretty impressive for a guy that looks like a bloated super mario.
