hi all A product has goten my eye and its the romtec trios www.romtecusa.com... basically here is my thing . I got a 20 gig haddrive a 10 gig haddrive a 48X cdrom and a 12x/8x/32 CDRW. the 20 gig has WInME on it mainly stuff for games and stuff the 10 gig has all my MP3's documents from as far back as 1993 which I need.I technically have no room to add more HD space unless I buy a new haddrive. Now it get complecatied I went to install LInux on my 10 gig and ran in to huge problems with the master boot record (MBR) on my 20 gig to make a long stoy short I had to format my 20 gig and start over with windows me. See i dont mind partitioning my 10 gig to install linux its just that I dont want it to touch my windows haddrive (the 20 gig) in any way shpe or fourm. so then technically I cant load linux unless with out a boot disk any way I like to keep all 10 gig that I got. now with Trios I can install a dedecated haddrive to the computer that I can put linux on and not worry about any thing happening to my 20 gig HD ( haddrive) and nothing happening to the MBR. I have been told to use partition magic or some other software like that but the only thing with that is from what I have been told that it writes to the MBR...I dont know if this is true or not so help me here yall. my grand total for trios and an other HD will run about $200 which is fine but I ask is it justbetter to go to an auction house online and buy an other computer just for Linux ( i know i can get some computer with 64 megs of ram there that will run linux nicely). What do yall say ? please reply
