These are largely the same people running for president. They are both for govt spending to prop up an economy(stimulus, bailouts), both have the same idea's of healthcare, their foreign policy is nearly identical, both have the same idea to expand govt and crush civil liberties. Tax difference could be true but even Obama hasnt seriously pushed this supposed progressive tax scheme. Instead he passed a regressive tax on the middle class(ACA). Their difference? Oh that is right, they are both now on opposing sides of gay marriage. Whoopie fucking do. An issue so far down on the list of priorities for americans who gives a fuck.

I know hardcore dems and republicans like to believe they are voting for people who are running on major policy differences. But they arent. We have devolved the process down to two parties that play up low priority topics to create an artificial rift.

To further prove my point. How many times have people on this very msgboard asked conservatives why they dont like Obama? Then list a bunch of things Obama has done that are just like Bush?

Sadly you're correct they simply focus on different hot button base issues. I'm not an enormous Obama supporter but at least in a second term he would be free to become a bully to get crap done. I could easily see him calling Congress back from breaks to vote on stuff, pressure them to address Super PACs and campaign finances, plus constant pressure for tax fix which ultimately would be a huge stabilizer for businesses. Also he seems willing to compromise but the extreme left won't support it, second term he would be free to tell them to get in line or get off the bus. He would essentially be the reverse of a first term Romney.

You should really not be saying this stuff out loud.

Oh i'm sorry, did i advocate the removal of conservatives with the use of force? I'm just suggesting conservatives can get the fuck out of here on their own volition.

I'm sure it has crossed your mind. Maybe you should relocate to an extremly liberal country? Why is this your country, again?

It is a brutal ad that plays real loose with facts, the take away point for me is we shouldn't be proud of businesses that layoff tons of workers to increase the bottom line. We need to be pro American again we all have forgotten about the great days.
personally I'd love to get back to a day when CEOs were ashamed to announce staffing cuts and were proud to display their employee retention rates.

Looks like the Pro Obama ad that sparked all of this is coming back to bite Obama in the ass.
http://www.businessinsider.com/joe-soptic-romney-obama-ad-campaign-priorities-usa-2012-8

Why, because he's lost the vote of Brett LoGiaruto?

People on both sides always claim that things the other side did are "coming back to bite them in the ass". Usually without evidence.

It's amusing that both sides are right now running ads that are basically complete distortions, and whining at each other while ignoring what they themselves are doing.

Unfortunately, while I agree that one isn't much different from the other, a vote for ANYONE else is the wasted vote...

And yes, odds are, I'll be voting for "not one of them" this year again.

I HATE that we are always given the choice of "voting for the candidate who you hate less than you hate the other candidate."

Sadly, none of the 3rd party candidates has a snowball's chance in hell of winning...or making a difference, other than siphoning a few votes away from one of the "big two."

Most third party fans ignore the fact that our system is so corrupted by big money that even if their candidate DID manage to win...they'd quickly become just as corrupted as any of the others...or they wouldn't survive long.

You create your own pain. The reason you get to vote for the least bad of two awful candidates is because... wait for it... you keep doing it. And the reason a third party candidate can't win? Because everyone who would vote for them thinks they can't win. Rs and Ds know you're stuck, so they can put in any yes man they want. Which is why Obama and Romney are our picks this years. Maybe if a enough peole gave the Rs and Ds the middle finger and cast a protest vote they'd sit up and take notice.

I couldn't afford to buy it for my wife," Soptic says on the call of his inability to purchase health insurance for his wife. "I had to put her in a county hospital because she didn't have health care. When the cancer took her away, all I got was an enormous bill.

Where is the denial of health care? All Obamacare would have done was force him to pay for something he couldn't afford.

Independant fact checkers show the ad is a lie. Interesting you guys are so happy with lies.

Saul disputed the ad’s accuracy — Soptic’s wife didn’t die until several years after her husband was laid off, and had health insurance from a job of her own during some of that time — and called the ad “despicable
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0812/79482.html#ixzz234Ic5Q3f

Can you show this "After that came the deluge of conservatives savaging Saul for getting lost on the road to Damascus, essentially accusing her of giving away the election. "? The almost as trustworthy as wikipedia site called TheHuffingtonPost does not bother to source this "fact". Three people being uphappy with something is a far cry from a deluge.

Of course, rather than be bothered with this, you guys can just keep patting each other on the back and congradulating yourselves.

That Brutal Anti-Romney Ad Is Blowing Up In The Obama Campaign's Face

As well it should as the ad is disgusting. Disgusting political ads are nothing new. What is relatively new is these "super PAC's," the unprecedented amount of money flowing through them, and the trend of candidates conveniently distancing themselves from their deplorable behavior.

I have to call the Romney campaign out for hypocrisy here, even though I agree with them about the Obama Super-PAC ad. When a Romney Super-PAC ran a bunch of dishonest attack ads against Gingrich during the Iowa primary, Romney did the exact same thing: tried to distance himself from the Super-PAC, even though it was pointed out that there were several very close connections. Similarly, when a Gingrich super-PAC later ran a 30 minute mockumentary containing various allegations about Romney's history with Bain, Gingrich tried to distance himself from it.

The flow of political sludge will not abate until we decide we aren't going to allow it anymore.

Uh, as in what?

Gary Johnson nor Ron Paul have any practical solutions to address reality. This is a well known fact, so it's odd that you would pretend they offer any real world solutions. For example, Ron Paul has never seen a single bill of his passed into law, not even as a co-sponsor. That is the sad fact of his career in public service my friend.

A truly wasted vote is for Gary Johnson or Ron Paul as a write-in. They will not win the general election. A vote for Romney or Obama in over a dozen swing states, on the other hand, definitely could be quite vital.

Gary Johnson and Ron Paul aren't the only other options besides Romney or Obama, way to keep yourself limited. There are other candidates and other parties stop being so ignorant.
