Compare that to the monstrous deficits of the Reagan, GHWB, and now the GWB era....

I wonder what the numbers would look like if Slick hadn't reduced the military by 40% during his tenure?

We're having to spend enormous amounts of money now to rebuild - it is costing significantly more than it did in the 90's.

40%? WOW! Is that including or after GHWB military cuts and planned cuts?😉

^^^ NO ONE is going to CUT spending. The best we can hope for is a decrease in the growth of spending.

At the very least 33% of Americans are under a different impression. If Republicans don't cut spending they will cease to exist in their current form, likely being taken over by actual conservatives someday.

Yawwn. We had the world's greatest military on 9/11, and it served us not at all...

"Rebuild" the military? For what purpose, other than to achieve more fiascos like Iraq? What real "military" threats are there, now that the Soviet empire has collapsed?

The Cold War ended almost 20 years ago, and there's been no significant threat since then, despite the ravings of the truly paranoid joined by the usual porkbarrel military procurement crowd...

Having a strong military is a good idea, but we need to recognize that's a relative term- the Clinton era military was more than capable of handling any situations that arose, or that are even remotely likely to arise today- well, other than some damned fools in the executive branch choosing pre-emptive action against imaginary threats...

Your propaganda is quite fascist in nature, Pabs.

Do you think Star Wars Missile Systems, military procurement for Rums-failed's special weapons, new nukular bombs and reductions in veterans health care is ""Supporting the Troops"" ??? Do you consider funding the military industrial complex to never-before-seen levels your patriotic duty ??? Bush is only going to spend $180 billion in Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation this year. Way to go, Pabs!

Bush is destroying the military piece by piece. Clinton cut the military 40%? That's a chickenhawk lie, Pabs.

Perhaps you can spin the RIF with your propaganda, Pabs. Even with your imagination you won't top the incubator babies in Kuwait.

edit: OF COURSE the numbers do not reflect The Bush War of Illegal Occupation in Iraq

Just saw Romneys new ad on t.v. Must be for the New Hampshire primary which is in the next state over.
Here's what Romney will do:
Eliminate the inheritance tax.
Eliminate all taxes on capitol gains and savings accounts.
Cut taxes across the board.
Cut spending? Not needed. The tax cuts will grow us out of the deficit.

Yes, my friends, the supposed Republican concerns about the deficit were just that. A lie.
Romney, like Guiliani, will cut taxes but not spending. And everything will be just great.
I guess they still feel borrow and spend is the way to go.

I saw Romney's commercial.

He talks a lot about cutting spending. Where do you get this stuff from?
