I failed this mission to leave this region / settlement that they only gave me 2 turns to complete. I was told to remove myself from the area (they lilsted a name of a city I have no spies or armies, cities, etc nearby).
I was told to make an alliance with them if I was just passing through and a military access treaty. I managed to later get to the city (stupid game gives impossible missions sometimes - I had no diplomats in the area within 2 turns) later an make an alliance.

I received the mission again telling me the same thing.

Damn game screwing up my faction with my first failure and gong to be my second since I went to the named city, offered military access to my lands and demanded access to theirs. They refused me....some allies...

I looked up the faction / diplomacy lists and Dacia (the so called friends of Rome) are not even allied with ANY of the Roman factions except me!.

Is this a bug or what?

ah figured it out...I read the entire manual and never saw any mention that the triple lines on the map meant a region...I have had a fort guarding the northern passes of Gaul territory long before the Dacians apparently took over a city to the NE.
I removed the garrison and succeeded in the mission. It sure would have helped to have clearer messages about this.

I only listened to the Senate as long as it suited me. Usually didn't take very long for me to start disregarding their orders.

Yah really is stupid when they give you a mission to blockade a port or take a settlement you have no way of getting to. I am just barely reaching in to France and Spain and they expect me to go blockade a port on the southern British isle coast when I have none up there.
I can't even sail through the straits because some stupid Spanish ship NEVER leaves the area where I have a blockade of a Gaul port so my other ships can't sail through the brown area.
