I know, it's like why do people still talk about the ramifications of nuclear weapons build up in the cold war. who cares? the cold war is over. things happen in a bubble. past events have no revelence in "today's" world.

But let's say that the election was tampered with it, with your attitude what is to keep future elections safe from major tamperment. Whether you agree or disagree with the results, the article does point out several major flaws in our current way of tracking votes, which can be exploited and need to be closed.

You know, whether or not the article is true (which if you actually take the time to read it, its hard to believe that at least parts of it AREN'T), it isn't at all about going back and changing anything. It's about the most fundemantal ideals of Americana, the right to have your vote counted, being questionable at best.

I don't care about the 2004 election. It is over and done with, and fraud or not, Kerry ran a horrible campaign. But I for one would like some assurances that our voting system works, and there is absolutely no way you can tell me that it does. It's horribly broken, and just this week both hackers and university researchers were demonstrating just how easy it is to break into the Diebold voting machines.

This article is about how ridiculous it is that in this day in age in America we don't even know how to count votes, and that in and of itself makes it a very good read.

nothing involving 100,000,000 items can be 100% accurate
it isn't possible

but the voting system needs to be improved

just don't get it into your head that a system run by the counties , i think there are ~5000 county govt. in the US, something in that ballpark, a system run by 5000 disparate entities can get 100,000,000 yes/no pieces of info accurate to 99.99% , let alone 100%

All the votes will not be counted if you have diebold machines, which can be opened with a minibar key.

IIRC, most if not all of this article has been debunked as misleading or straight out untruthful statements.
