While it's awesome that GOG offers all 3. If FreeRCT gets the development it needs and matures then it will be like RCT2 plus tons of extra features. Like multiple ports on different platforms like on Android for example.

Again like what OpenTTD did for Trasport Tycoon Deluxe. There is even another game based on TTD called Simutrans: http://www.simutrans.com/en/

Kinda surprised it's taken RCT this long to get any type of Open Source version?

Multiplayer would be awesome. Imagine a competitive mode or co-op.

Atari is selling RCT license so hopefully another developer picks it up and gives it the treatment it deserves after the epic fail of RCT 3D on the 3DS.

The RCT series is still awesome. Hell even RCT3 which is pretty much Theme Park Tycoon (nothing wrong with that) ;) still holds up well Today.

Kinda surprised no one made any unofficial patches for these games.

Oh...Mai...Gawd...
I really don't have much spare time these days, but with this, I'll definitely won't have any time anymore.

Yeah. I agree there.

They are having to recreate everything and make it all look slightly different so they don't get sued. It is called FreeRCT but the RCT can stand for anything like Ride Creation Tool.

I'm not a fan of it being called FreeRCT. I think it might as well be called OpenRCT. However that's minor I just hope this gets the development of OpenTTD.

Seems the RollerCoaster Tycoon series has dug itself in a hole? It's like they haven't been able to top the 2nd or 3rd game. I mean after all these years after RCT3 they deliver a water downed version on the 3DS that pissed off the fanbase.

What else new could they offer? The only thing I could think of is Multiplayer modes and open creation tools. Would a RCT4 sell well like the rest? Would we really want a RCT4 in these times of everything DLC'd and consolefied?

However there is room for RCT4 & FreeRCT.

I recall Chris Sawyer's Locomotion was a flop compared to his Transport Tycoon.

Speaking of Chris Sawyer, maybe now that RollerCoaster Tycoon license is being sold to another company maybe he will return as a consultant or something? Pretty sure he's not a fan of Atari since he had to sue as he got stiffed by them.

Whoever buys the RCT License. If they want to make some easy cash they should work on porting the 3 games to Mobile.

Well see what the future of RCT is.... Hopefully more projects like FreeRCT start up too. As TTD has seen some Open Source love for quite some time now.
