Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 killing all my sound on pc

i installed roller coaster tycoon 3 on my computer. when i go to play the game no sound comes out, which makes me exit the game ( i get pretty picky when stuff don't work). then i go to play some music. it starts to play the music on my comp but no sound comes out of the speakers. i have changed speakers to make sure it is not my speakers. there is no sound on my computer until i have restarted the computer. i have tried to dl the rct 3 patch from atari but when i go to install the patch it gives me the error that says it can't find a retail version of rct 3. and this is a legal copy that i bought at the store the other day. can someone tell me what i can do to fix this problem?i also have the latest sound drivers

also i installed the game on another computer and it works fine. sound and everything

try re-installing windows mabey it's a corruption in the os. If not I don't know what to tell you.

i shouldn't have to reinstall windows if this is the only game and application that does not play music
