Last summer the Six Flags nearest me had a car upside down for a few hours before they got them down. There were lawsuits, never heard how it ended up.

See I told people that it is possible for a ride to get stuck upside-down because of the brakes. They didnt believe me but HA, I am proven correct AGAIN!!!!

They must deploy automatically during a power loss event for safety reasons. Interesting there is no
generator system to supply backup power to the rides. I guess their policy is to "let 'em hang high" until
the local FD arrives with a ladder truck tall enough to reach them..

You would think they would have dual feeders coming into the park with a transfer switch. On rides like this they should also have a flywheel system so power remains long enough that people could be stopped at a safe point!

What if that power failure was caused by a lightning strike and those people were stuck up there when it got even closer? I love to watch lightning but run like the wind when it gets (too) close!

I live in cen. FL, home of many rides and even more lightning storms, parks around here
shut down a ride if any sign of lightning is near..

Yes they do - but bolts from the blue occur many times when thunder isn't heard and quite possibly before the park safety manager's decision is made to close rides due to lighting vicinity. Even when that decision is made there could be a ride in progress with trains returning to the loading area. Odds are low but the fact that people were left hanging up there is scary.

I was stuck at the top of a ferris wheel (no laughing!) for over an hour once and it was scary. I could not imagine being stuck upside down like that - for any period of time!

Yeah, I can imagine... "are we there yet; are we there yet; are we there yet?"

Your ride experience is very important to us, please remain seated until the next available
mechanic figures out a way to get your a$$ down....

You're upside down, if you start peeing it will dribble up your chest, onto your chin. Screw that.

Yesterday around 4:30pm, me and my friends were stuck at the top of Expedition Everest (Disney World - FL). We had to get out of the cars (no handrails; just slippery steps), walk down 14 flights of stairs, walk through the guts of the ride, and exit. We got a fast pass that expires at the end of the month for our trouble.

The whole time we were up there, there was lightning in the distance. By the time we were off the ride, it started raining and thundering....then a hail storm followed.

I thought it was bad until I saw this story last night....
