Roll windows 7 back

If someone installs windows 7 over their vista partition, is it possible to roll back to vista?

I see some Windows.old folders, but I have no idea how if it is possible. My guess would be no...

How hard is it to install on the empty partition? *grrr*

If you did an upgrade install of 7 over Vista, yes, it can be restored to Vista. Scenario 1 should fit.
