What do you think the role of a moderator should be?
When you do appreciate a moderator's involvement?
Do they cross the line sometimes in your opinion?

My opinion is that they are around to facilitate forum guidelines and discussion. They monitor threads and take appropriate action when necessary. I appreciate what they do most of the time. And it is a difficult position to volunteer for.

I think after looking at some of the other "anything goes" forums, I appreciate this place more. :)

mod·er·a·tor (m¼d??-r³?t?r) n. 1. One that moderates, as: a. One that arbitrates or mediates. b. One who presides over a meeting, forum, or debate. 2. The officer who presides over a synod or general assembly of the Presbyterian Church. 3. Physics. A substance, such as water or graphite, that is used in a nuclear reactor to decrease the speed of fast neutrons and increase the likelihood of fission.

I think that #3 applies perfectly
