Question Roku - how to connect to home WiFi from a hotel

Unless the hotel is next door to the hotel you're not going to be able to connect to your wifi. You need to set up the Roku device to use the hotel's wifi network. This is done using the settings and the Roku app on your phone.

But, if you had your teenager set up the Roku for you at the house you should call him or her for tech support.

The Roku output is connected to your TV at Home.

There is No way to get the TV Signal through the WIFI and the Internet to where it is your current location.

If you take with you the Roku device with you on the "Road". Technicaly it possible to connect to availbale WiIFI and stream.

Practically it also depends on the on the "Road WIFI" and geographical Streaming rules. Like if you are from the USA and your streaming service is restricted to the USA you might not be able to use it elsewhere.

😎

I’m trying to connect the Roku in the hotel room but connect it to a WiFi connection coming from my room (hardware) that mimics my home WiFi, so the Roku thinks it’s at home for geographical purposes

There isn't a commercially available easy way to connect anything to the internet, whether wifi or wired and make the internet think it''s someplace else. What you might try if you have the ability to tether your cell phone is set up the Roko in your house using your cell phone as a hot spot, then try using it away from the house the same way. You might get away with hooking your cell phone the the hotel's wie then the Roku to your cell phone;s hot spot.

You can buy Amplifi VPN router / Teleport hardware set.

Connect to Teleport at hotel wirelessly and tunnel to your home network automatically, anywhere in the world.

No complex traditional VPN setup required.

Thank you for posting this! I had no idea something existed that was so simple. This is even better than vpn endpoint routers designed for work from home setups. I'm actually surprised enterprises aren't trying to use these for that purpose as this is a cheap solution.
