Roku and apple TV just got some major competition. Amazon Fire TV

Amazon just came out with the Fire TV for $99

Specs look really good. Roku3 holds up ok against them IMO but apple TV looks bad.

Of course the biggest loser with roku's, fire TV, etc... is cable companies. Guess that's why they are trying to kill net neutrality.

Plex is nice.

I don't see any DLNA or option of pulling local media over to it, which sort of sucks. Plus how long before apple sues for that round jog dial look on the remote.

If I had to guess, it's really just running an Amazon-branded variant of Android like the Fire tablets do, which makes PLEX running on it not much of a surprise as there's a PLEX Android client (free to PLEX Pass subscribers too).

Although, I wish they would have more buttons on the remote such as subtitles. I miss a dedicated subtitle button.
