Wow, HUGE news:

Reemote was an application that tied in an iPhone with Airfoil, allowing you to use your iPhone as a remote control to send computer audio to any of your Airport speakers. Airfoil basically overrides Airplay on your Mac and lets you stream ANY audio to an Airplay-capable device, such as Youtube, Spotify, etc. Reemote (now called "Airfoil Remote") let you use your iPhone as a remote control, so you could basically shoot music from your Mac to one (or multiple) Airplay-enabled speakers, i.e. wicked cheap whole-house audio. So now you just need 2 pieces of software:
1. Airfoil for Mac ($25)
2. Airfoil Remote ($5, Universal for iPhone & iPad)
Detailed application support for sources here:

Windows support is available, but only for iTunes: ($25, or bundle with the Mac version for $40)

This is AWESOME for the DIY'er! You can select a source on your computer from your iPhone, and then send it to multiple Airplay-enabled speakers and independently control the volume on each one. It's not quite as powerful as a Sonos system (which lets you send different sources to different speakers simultaneously, whereas Airfoil Remote is one source to multiple speakers), but it's significantly cheaper and piggybacks off your existing Mac system. If you're really into the DIY stuff, RaspXBMC for Raspberry Pi (board starts at $44) acts as an Airplay receiver, so you can save about half the cost of an Airport Express:

So Airport Remote on iPhone -> Airfoil for Mac on a computer -> Multiple Airplay receivers. VERY cool!!
