Im using a router to share my connect model irs405 r02. But with the router connected no pages will load. It gets an ip and i can ping websites, but it seems to be a throughput issue. (lights flash every once in a blue moon and 10 mins later page loads) Works fine with a dsl line but not my cable line. Anyone have any ideas?

MAC Address. You might want to (if possible) spoof your MAC address on the router. Or, unplug your modem for five minutes then plug it back in and see if it works then.

I get an ip from rogers so the mac address isnt an issue. The router gets online and can ping websites I just cant view em for some reason.

Just installed it for the rogers system. Router works fine as it was on a dsl system and worked no probs there. It connects alright just cant view anything :| Ping times are the same with or without the router so im stuck

Im assuming you already know that rogers maps mac addresses to ip addresses. Im paying for a 2nd ip to test this router, so the mac address is not an issue. If it was an issue i would not even be able to get an ip address from rogers. Since i can get an ip and it will ping websites its obvious the router is online. Whats not apparent is why my throughout is so low it takes 10 mins to load a page. For the record ive tried using both ips( they are on different subnets) that rogers issued me and both do the same thing.

Your unwillingness to try something so simple is disturbing.

Best of luck to you.

When the router wouldnt connect the first thing i did was to clone mac. You seem stuck on the mac address thing when ive told you several times. The router is online and connected to rogers therefore the mac address isnt an issue. Throughput is my issue.

Had you have mentioned that before this would've helped.

As I mentioned before. Good luck.

I mentioned the router was online and could ping websites. Thats a pretty good indication that the router is online and not a mac issue. Rogers only filters mac addys for connectivity not throughput. (aside from the modems mac that is)

Besides what Oaf357 has said, I would reset the router and then configure it to your new ISP config. (in this case Roger's), even thought that you masked the MAC address, you probably have the seetings from your ISP (DNS, Gateway and so on).

Done all that. Routers status shows connected with the correct gateway/dns for rogers. It even translated "pop" and "smtp" for me automatically which i usually have to do manually with rogers and routers. Everything connects ok just doesnt transfer data at any decent rate. I could carry the packets back and forth faster

I was reading your original post, and you mentioned that if you use your ADSL connection, everything is OK, by that I assume that the pages load as they supposse to, if so I think that you might need to talk to your ISP and mention that you have a connectivity issue, since you already reset the router and also test it with your ADLS I think that your problem is with them no with your settings.

Rogers doesnt support anyone with a router heh. Besides that if i unplug the router and just use the hub it works fine. Pages load as they are supposed to. It does connect like it should its just sloooooooowww. Gonna get a friend to transfer a file my way see what speed i get with it.
