Roger Federer vs. Rafael Nadal in the French Open Final

Updated - Final being played now...history in the making?
Damn it...someone step up and at least make him work for it! 😉...his semi-final opponent David Nalbandian just retired from the match.

Nadal is in the other semi-final, so maybe he will have to really fight for it.

well, should be a good match...considering nadal has beaten federer 4 times in a row already...

also nadal has a 5-1 record against federer, and has never lost to him on clay

-edit-

with that said, i can't stand nadal, and hope federer pounds him

Not a fan of Nadal either, but he's a monster on clay - he's never out of the point. He's got a lot of fight in him

yes, he's definitely a fighter, and he has incredible speed and determination on each point...the one thing i can't stand is that he acts like a cocky SOB

but the only reason he gives people fits is because he plays left handed, and he has that unconvential heavy heavy topspin forehand on the left hand side. people just aren't used to it...if he was a righty, i guarantee federer would destroy him

It would be nice if federer won. I don't want him to have the pete sampras syndrome. Although I don't think pete ever made it to the finals. Plus he never had a clay nemesis like nadal.

Still, I'm guessing nadal will win. Clay is so different than other surfaces...

Federer and Nadal are about to take the court...History in the making...Roger could win the Grand Slam in one calendar year?
Is he the greatest ever?

yah, and when federer had that sick streak going, wasn't nadal the one who snapped it?

It's unbelievable that Federer could own everyone else so bad, but Nadal owns him....yet nadal still loses to other people..

No one is perfect, Nadal just has something that Federer can't quite handle.

I really enjoy watching both of them, even though I'm not a huge fan of tennis.

You are a complete idiot to say such a thing. Have you ever seen Federer play? The only place where Nadal rules is clay.

Let me tell you that Pete Sampras also has never won the French Open too...just like Stefan Edberg or Jimmy Connors.

Only 4 or 5 people have won all four grand slams in 1 year.

Yes, I've probably watched Federer play more matches than you did.

Doesn't matter what Federer is accomplishing now. The guy has no competition at all right now. Blake, Nadal, Roddick are all mediocre compared to the type of competition that Sampras had throughout his whole career. Even the guys you mentioned like Edberg and Connors had some really tough opponents on the court. There's absolutely who is dominant in the tennis world right now so that's why he's doing so well.

you have got to be kidding me...you are clueless. the reason federer is dominating, is because he's that good. dont' give me this bull about his competition not being as good.

I agree, Federer is a monster. He has a much more diverse game than did sampras and he simply crushes opponents. The only thing I wonder about is his mental toughness. He is deathly afraid of Nalbandian even though he should pretty handily dispatch him, and now that he's lost to Nadal again, I hope he doesn't cop out of beating the snot out of him on the hardcourts.

"Pete was great, no question, but there was a place to get to with Pete. It could be on your terms. There's no such place with Roger. I think he's the best I've played against"
Andre Agassi places Federer above Sampras.
