Congress wasting time asking someone if they used steroids is even worse.

Not sarcasm.

Not when that person has made a substantial amount of money due to an antitrust exemption that Congress granted his employer. Face it, MLB has enjoyed exorbitant financial excesses at the expense of taxpayers and they are owed some accountability.

And instead of wasting taxpayer dollars on Congressional hearings and this trial, they should just remove the exemption. It's arbitrary anyway. Subject MLB to the same antitrust regulations as every other business, including the other professional sports leagues.

Done.

What if he was taking steroids but under prescription as a replacement dose by his doctor? Would that then qualify as "performance enhancing?"

Clemens had one of the best reputations in sports but had to throw it all away simply because he couldn't hide his douchebagness once he was confronted with it.

While we can safely argue about whether the initial point -- where Clemens was ever addressing Congress -- is an issue... something I can't say is up for debate would be the fact that Clemens now must certainly stand trial.

Lying to Congress, regardless of whoever you may be, deserves this kind of attention. Lying to the government is just retarded, especially when said lie is hiding illegal activities.
