ROG Maximus V Formula doesn't complete boot unless fully powered off first

Hi

If I switch the machine off via a command or the power button, when it reboots it stops after login with a black screen and a cursor I can control but nothing else. At this point the LED post code is '40'.

I have to fully power off the machine at the wall and then start up again to properly boot with the code 'AO'.

Could anyone suggest why this is please?

Code 40 is memory initialization before handing over to the OS. Suggest testing one stick of RAM at a time with Memtest86+. If you're running Windows 7 you could also do quick test with all of RAM installed, by pressing F8 at boot and selecting Memory Diagnostics.

Check all your power connections to make sure nothing is loose.
